I'll concede your second point.
But as to your first and third:
1) "If you're stressed and not liking a situation, GPA performance will most likely be affected. NO? Before you say it, yes this is the reason why being a college athlete is so special."
I'd argue that other factors -- e.g., how academically rigorous a particular school is, how much academic help athletes have access to, how hard student-athletes study, etc. -- have a bigger impact on GPA than any difference in stress levels due to playing at a KSU versus an Auburn or Alabama.
Perhaps more importantly, it's pure speculation to assert that the difference will be a 3.5 versus a 2.8, as one poster (you?) did. That's an awfully big spread.
3) "I see you totally missed that point. The Stress of performance (which inludes practice time, game time, weights, training, study hall, team film, etc.) at a top 40 D1 will always be different than the others. Come on! Do you think Georgia State's football team practices and preps as hard and has a much time requirements as a player at Michigan? REALLY? What about Duke BBall vs UAB? What about SC baseball vs Alabama state?"
A couple of points in response:
1. You picked the extremes of D1 (SC men's baseball, a two-time national champ vs. Alabama State) to make your point. How about KSU vs. Mississippi State in women's soccer? Or, put another way, how would the 40th ranked team (your top 40) rank against, say, the 80th or 90th ranked team (where a KSU might arguably rank)? Are the time requirements and stress levels much different? I'd argue they're not.
2. All D1s have limits on how much time can be spent practicing. And most, if not all, use every allotted minute. So, I don't think the time requirements are all that different. |
