SAVANNAH, Ga. (April 30) – Armstrong Atlantic State University head coach Eric Faulconer has announced his recruiting class for the 2008 season. A total of seven players have signed National Letters of Intent for the 2008-09 academic year.

This year's class includes five players from the state of Georgia, one Floridian and one international. "Over the past year and a half we have really focused our recruiting efforts on the state of Georgia and the Atlanta area in particular," Faulconer said. "Because of our early success at the regional and national level, we are now attracting a high level of interest from instate student-athletes."

The signees include: defender Jessy Flores (Grayson, Ga.); midfielder/forward Daviana Garcia (Alpharetta, Ga.); forward Erin Holt (Marietta, Ga.); midfielder/forward Kaleigh Jowers (Tallahassee, Fla.); defender/midfielder Jennifer Keehn (Columbus, Ga.); midfielder Bjorg Magnea Olafs (Reykjavik, Iceland) and midfielder Erin O'Rourke (Berkeley Lake, Ga.). The Lady Pirates return 10 of the starting 11 that took the field in the 2007 NCAA National Tournament, including 50 of the 56 goals scored last season. Anyone know anything about these recruits?
When is CSU going to announce their recruits?

Yes...

Very good class of recruits.

AASU gets faster, more athletic, and much stronger in areas they were weak last year. Their strong spring suggests they may have turned the corner with the girls they are returning.

The conference overall should be more interesting. With CSU certainly improving, AASU's upgrades, and new coaching at GCSU (and a lot of talent and athleticism), there should be some great conference games this year.

Best of luck to all three of these fine programs.

Looks like the AASU sports information department put together a nice pdf profile on the recruits. I wish more schools would do things like this.

Here is one:

Borowinski is fifth Griffin to commit
Moving on to Columbus State
Sophomore Nicole Borowinski (Torrey Pines) has chosen Columbus State University in Georgia. She has given a verbal commitment to a scholarship offer from coach Jay Entlich. Borowinski was an All-Pacific Coast conference selection in 2006 and was instrumental in the Griffins conference championship and playoff run to the regional semis that year. For her career she scored 12 goals and recorded 7 assists in her two years. Columbus State finished 2007 with a 20-3-2 overall record and a trip to the NCAA Div. II quarterfinals. They were also the Southwest Regional Champions as well as the Peach Belt Conference champions in 2007 with an 8-0-0 record.
