When do most boys commit to Div I teams?July 3 2009 at 10:14 PM | high school parent |
| I'm curious as to when most boys commit to Div I colleges. I'd guess Academy and national players commit this month (or sooner)? When would good (Classic I or R3pl) level boys, assuming they are academically well-qualified, expect to receive offers?

| The bulk of the boys players start committing between now and late fall. | July 4 2009, 5:01 PM |
Boys are about 9 months behind the girls in getting and accepting offers to colleges, regardless of Division. Between now and Oct/Nov is when most decisions will be made. |

| Verbal or National Letter of Intent? | July 13 2009, 5:41 PM |
The verbal “commitments” start during the junior year, with many of the players committing in fall and throughout the spring. Many of the 2010 recruits are verbally committed now and waiting to sign the NLI later this year. The recruiting for many DI teams is on to the class of 2011. There are NCAA guidelines on NLI but not verbal commitments. As the NCAA states the verbal commitment is not binding on the athlete or the school. |
