Tonight we tied UNC-Greensboro 2-2 on the road. With the tie we extend our unbeaten streak to 10 games and move our record to 8-2-2 overall and 3-0-1 in the Southern Conference.
In the first half UNC-Greensboro came out with more intensity and quality and as a result jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. In the second half the tables turned and the team responded really well with Tony Kattreh scoring to tie the match at 1-1 off a Sean Flatley assist. We continued to put the pressure on and with 12 minutes left Shawn Ferguson headed home a Sean de Silva corner to put us up 2-1. More chances were created by some excellent passing and good movement in the final third of the field, but unfortunately we couldn't capitalize leaving the Spartans in the match. With less than 6 minutes left, UNCG tied the game at 2-2 and through two overtime periods the score would remain tied.
Next up we host Georgia Southern at home this Saturday at 7 PM. Come out and support your team!
I'm excited to also inform everyone that we are currently ranked #10 in the recent RPI (ratings percentage index) that was released by the NSCAA.
