I heard the All American graduated and the backup (who was going to be the starter) transferred out for her major. She will not be playing soccer at her new school.

Heard she played the entire spring season and then told the coaches after the season was over and in her final meeting before the semester ended. Ouch!

the fact that 9 players quit the team in one year should say something about the coach and the messed up athletic department at gcsu, and did i mention the new assistant coach has no experience coaching so the head coach is on her own. and did i mention that the AD at gcsu is an idiot for hiring these two?

Agreed!

I believe the assistant coach played for GCSU, if you count her actually playing. She has no experience in coaching and wasn't a great player either. Maybe out of all the 15 new players that she got won't quit after the first year. I guess we will have to see how the season goes. Not seeing it going that great with 15 new players. It will be a big transition year for this team

While I would agree with most of your points

let's give the assistant coach a opportunity - the fact that she might not have been an All American player has nothing to do with her potential coaching abilities - how many All American's make great coaches...quite the opposite. While I don't necessary agree that this was the right fit or opportunity, let's not bash her at this point. This program will take a step back, maybe two...hopefully not more than that, time will tell.

When a new coach comes in, doesn't the kind of player they are looking for come into play. This coach was hired in late June, so none of last years players were recruited by her. This will be her 1st recruiting class. This coach must be looking for something different than the old coach. Looks like they have a tuff schedule to start the season, so time will tell.

What does your point have to do with what the coach is looking for? It has nothing to do with that at all. The players were obviously good enough to play in college, then a coaching change happens then they quit? Definitely seems to be a problem with the coach. Not the players.

COMPLETELY DISIGREE!

August 13 2011, 10:04 PM

Some coaches like to hold the ball while others like to play up tempo. Some coaches tall people, some like short. Personalities on how they train, style of play (4-4-2, 4-5-1, etc), how they hold their off-field sessions (study hall, team rules, etc.). No coach is the same, players like certain things about coaches or schools. So, when there is a coaching change, there are going to be some that don't like it, for WHATEVER!

Re: COMPLETELY disagree

August 13 2011, 11:47 PM

It still doesn't change their love for the game. anyone who has played the game at this level has had their fair share of coaches throughout their lives. but the fact that 9 players left this team just shows the common denominator is the coaching staff. what makes a great coach are ones who care for their players and doesn't treat them as if they are property. yeah you pay the players for school, but if you don't gel with your players you won't be successful. until these two clowns are out of there, gcsu will have a rough time competing in the PBC.

Someone with an ax to grind! Maybe someone who used

August 15 2011, 12:16 PM

to be there and felt like they didn't get a fair shake? Come on, give the coaches a chance. Based on info out here, this is there first recruiting class from the coaches that left them high and dry. Didn't the last guy go somewhere in South America and there asst didn't have a masters degree and that was part of the schools requirements? I think we have to wait and see what happens.
