Bigger question - why??

May 11 2012, 10:44 AM

Why leave KSU to go to FMU? Isn't that a huge step down?

I think that's something you'll have to ask FP.

Or maybe RK?

It was the door or a new job. Ask RK.

RK is running KSU into the ground and Pitt was the fall guy

New blood needed at Kennesaw. It has gotten very stale.

Very big assumptions

How is taking a head coach position being a fall guy and being forced out? Go to the link and check the website out. New facilities and the opprtunity to make the decisions sounds all right to me.

Asst coach to a head coach. Great move! Frank has been looking for the right fit. Check out facilities. Nice opportunity and it is his show. Good Luck

You are obviously not in the know. Kings told him to get a new job.

Definitely forced out by RK. Pretty common knowledge actually.

He saw the football team coming

Seems to be a quick step as soccer coach leaves when football arrives.

Here is the real answer

May 14 2012, 9:09 AM

The last several years King was focused on stadium development. He entrusted Pitt to handle team affairs, and it became OBVIOUS that Pitt doesn't know how to recruit/develop/train a D1 soccer program. This is from several sources. I don't know the details of whether or not he was forced out, but he has definitely been looking for a job for quite awhile.

Good luck to him and to King at KSU.

What decent head coach is going to focus on stadium development over their team? That is just ridiculous if that has any truth.

So you are trying to say that RK left the team totally to FP? Is this some kind of smoke and mirrors job to distract people that they didn't even qualify for the A-Sun tourney?

RK definitely told FP to seek new employment. My theory is that he wanted a fall guy with a new AD in town to try and salvage his own job if KSU underperforms again.

I cannot believe that a head coach would sacrifice his team to help get a stadium going. And then claim that the said stadium has NO HELP in recruting.

I agree. Rob King is the head coach and ultimately is responsible for his program. Pitt is the fall guy but if KSU doesn't turn it around, King will be next. Pitt applied for every job under the sun and took the first one offered. An independent DI soccer job is not a good one, but it is a paycheck when you were about to lose your current one.

Fran Marion is no longer Independent D1

May 16 2012, 1:27 AM

All sports are stepping back to D2 PBC , which is a good move for this smaller school. The strength of the PeachBelt will give them good soccer opportunity for their women's team especially with the upward movement of some of the programs.

Where does it say that? They are at least DI for 2012.

Francis Marion should begin their PBC schedule next Fall. Baseball finished 2nd in the PBC this Spring. Scroll down to the bottom of the FMU athletics page and you'll see the PBC conference link.

Makes sense for Pitt. He walks right into some pretty stellar facilities. Must be nice to have that to begin with. We'll see what he can do with it! Wonder how many scholarships he has to work with.
