Maybe some folks are interested. You must be on the losing side. |

VSU sub'd quite a bit. Didn't keep count of actual numbers they used. GCSU played all goalies and 14 of 19 field players saw action. |

They took everyone and only dressed 20-22(not sure the actual #). Seems odd since this was a scrimmage unless those not dressing were injured but 8+ injuries seems like and awful lot. |

Roster last year --- 31 (11 not returning)
This year roster 28 with 8 new players.

if 3 or 4 then roster size really not that huge...people making a big deal out of nothing. I would bet average college size roster is 26... |

They only have 2. 1 quit during spring season. she played less than 10 minutes all season last year even in games vsu was winning easily. 2 team keeper this year has not played in a competetive game and did not dress at all last year. as a coach that would make me very nervous. you are 1 play away from being up the creek.
I would always carry/dress 3 keepers so if on the road you sustain and injury or get a red card you have a backup to the backup. MH does not manage players very well. may she will do better this season. |

I know keeping three is (would be) the way to go, but for 'smaller' schools it's very tough b/c that third keeper really has very little chance that they will ever play. Better to have a field player who has a little experience in goal that can step in during extreme emergency. For a school like UGA it's easier becuase you do get kids who just want to be part of the team that can say I'm on the UGA soccer team...much tougher on smaller schools, especially where you have a clearly established #1. In VSU case #1 is only a sophomore so being a #2 is really tough as well becuase #1 is still an underclassman and quality keepers don't want to go DII and wait 2 or 3 years to get to play. She will have a tough time recruiting a top notch keeper until 2014 class, unless she throws a lot of money at someone - which of course you really dont want to do either and have them just sit the bench...fine line. |

30 came into this season. 3 have quit so they should be at 27. All three that quit were returning from last year. I think MH talk is catching up to her. There seems to be lots of unhappy girls at VSU right now.

If players don't play, then players typically don't stay. Going from high school and club starter to deep bench can be tough for some players.

Or coach treats them like crap. Don't but into the sweetness of MH. At the end I the day she does not
care. Talk to current and former players.
Player morale is not were it should be at vsu. |
