I built this rod from the blank and it is great for shooting weighted flies in heavy winds. It has a fast action backbone and fast action tip. It is pretty stiff for me, but that is more because I like an easier action that really lets me feel the fish. It is better than the GL3 of its generation by a long shot. I can really throw line with this one. I woudl recommend it over its Loomis cousins anyday.
