I purchased 2 Zero G rods in the past 2 years and both rods have broken while fishing. I have also heard from Alaskan lodge guides that this is an ongoing problem as they have seen a number of customers who brought Orvis Zero G's to Alaska go home with broken poles. One lodge has seen 6 this summer and that does not count mine or my friends, that both broke on the same trip.
This appears to be an ongoing quality issue and I would strongly recommend that anyone looking for a new rod, look somewhere besides Orvis as the name does not appear to be worth $ that it used to be
I own 3 Orvis rods in the T3 and Trident series. I bought each after they first came out and have been pleased, even though neither is top of their line now. I am on the water 40-50 days (I'm retired) per year for Trout & Salmon. I've landed heavy 5-7 pound Rainbows and Browns on my T3 5 Wt with NO PROBLEMS. I've also caught large browns when fishing on light tackle w/the 4 weight Trident and again, it just takes more skill to land large fish on lighter tippet. These rods are sensitive, accurate and VERY durable. My only breakage was when a large rock came down the canon wall & broke a rod while I ate lunch & broke it in half...my fault. I received a new rod, no questions asked in 5 days. Also, I'm puzzled about the remarks about customer service & rod stiffness. Orvis is careful to make rods from full-flexing (soft) to stiff in each series. I initially purchased the stiffest rod (9.0) and took it back to the store after fishing it for 3 months, finding it too stiff for my style...they replaced it with a medium-stiff rod (7.5) with no questions asked...this was a brand-new rod in keeping with their no-hassle policy. Simply: great rods and very ethical company. I tested the new Helios rod and will be purchasing one later this year...hard to find an 8 wt that at 3 oz. feels like a 5 wt! Also, these are made in the USA, which is hard to find these days.
They discontinued that rod

I was wondering why they reduced the price on those rods from the $600.00 down to the $300 and they don't have them anymore. I see them on ebay for sale. I also heard they are not good.

most orvis rods are fine. I have 2 and love them. the Zero Gravity were known for breakage, but many of their rods of good quality.
