My plan is to head out from Denver on I-70, take Tennessee Pass from Copper Mountain to Leadville, then head south on 24 to Salida. I've driven that much of the route dozens of times. The rest of the way is new...
West from Salida (Poncha Springs) over Monarch, through Gunnison to Montrose, and south from Montrose to Ridgeway then Ouray.
My questions are: what are the roads like now? CDOT has closed Red Mountain Pass, is that on my route? I used to get to Buena Vista in 3 hours, and Gmaps is predicting 6.5 for the full route, does that make sense?
