My lovely husband died last Tuesday, just a week ago. He was 70 and we should be looking forward to a lovely peaceful old age together. He had smoked all his life and tried many times to give it up, but couldn't. It got him in the end and it was so hard to see him go, but it was a blessing that he was unconscious before he reached hospital and didn't suffer.
I loved him so much and feel so lonely. I have two wonderful sons who see me nearly every day and great neighbours and friends who keep saying they will help me or talk to me whenever I need, but I don't want to become a burden to anyone. I discovered this website so I can open my heart on here.
I'm very confused at present, but I'm sure I'll be visiting this site often.

Your heart is breaking at the moment, but never give up. I lost my wife Kath (aged 54) nearly two years ago, partly through smoking and ssociated illnesses. We had a wonderful life together, and the great memories are what keep you strong. Like you, I'm grateful that she didn't suffer, and for that we must be very thankful. You have your family and friends, and although it may be hard to believe, life does improve.
