Caring for my grieving partner

My partner of two years has recently lost her 19 year old son. He was much more than her son, he was her best friend and kept her going through the difficult times in her marriage. The loss has devastated her and she feels very strongly that she wants to go and be with him. I am coping as best I can to keep her in the land of the living, but sometimes a dark depair grips her and I have had to hide the house keys overnight to stop her running off and doing something silly. I have tried to tell her that I love her and hope that my love should be enough to keep her, but she says it is not a competition about who she loves more, she just needs to be with him to look after him.

He died three weeks ago and due to the circumstances of the death we haven't been able to lay him to rest yet.

Can anyone offer some guidance
