Hi everyone...My name is Dave and created this Bereavementuk.co.uk web site just over six years ago. In this time it has thankfully continued to been a lifeline for its many visitors from all over the world.
Though offered many times I have never received a single penny from this site and I never will.
Unfortunately I only get on my computer a couple of times a week and this is to sort out dedications ect. Also to remove any messages from this board and my guest book from people trying to sell books and tacky wares to my bereaved visitors who are probably feeling very vulnerable and low. I won’t allow anyone to be exploited who comes here. There’s nothing I can do about the Network54 or Google adds but we can stop the rest.
So would any one or more of you like to moderate this group by keeping an eye on its contents or double posting the same message ect and also try to make sure any poor soul who leaves a message here gets a welcome and replied to.
Its not difficult at all and only requires a bit of clicking on the messages “Edit message…Delete message…Lock thread…Respond to this message” Which will show when you have moderator status.
If you come to this board regularly and think you can help, please would you let me know. All I think I need is just your login name only to this board.
If I can help with this I would be happy to give it a shot. This has been a life saver for me, and I would like to thank you for all you have done in setting it up and keeping it in order. I usually check in every day at some point, so i if it is nott oo demanding I may be able to help. Shan't be offended if you get someone else, though!
Regards,
Derry

Hi Kerry...Thank you so much for your offer of help and would love to take you up on it. You will need to log on to the board to moderate it, so please set up an account its all free. Then give me the user name you have chosen an I will do the rest to change you to a moderator.
Take care kind regards Dave

Thank you for such a warm and helpful message board. I found it via a google search not long after losing my dad and have gained much comfort from reading and responding to messages. I hadn't seen the rest of your site until now, following the link in your message, and no doubt will spend a lot of time catching up on the content in times ahead.
Derry sprung to mind as an excellent choice for moderator and then I saw that he'd responded (great minds....Derry ).
Thanks again, I've often wondered who was 'in charge' of the board.
Best regards.

Hello JW...thank you so much for your kind words, they mean so much to me and I see from your posting that you too are a great asset to this forum. I did also wonder if you may like to concider helping Derry moderate. We would all be a little green on this at first, so would be a good idea to start together and make our mistakes three fold
Please think about it JW and let me know. I'll totally understand if you can't.
My thanks to Derry who has offered to keep this little place clean from the unwashed internet spammers and my offer is still open to anyone who feels they can help us.
Kind regards to you all.

I'd be happy to help out as I think this website means a lot to a lot of people, my only concern is that there's a fair amount of time when I'm not here (weekends usually and the school holidays)- maybe I can help in a 'reserve' or 'back up' capacity?

Just do the same as I have asked Derry to do and open an account to log on so as to use your mod status. Let me know the user name you have chosen and I should be able to do the rest.
Many many thanks JW and Derry.
My kind regards.
Dave.

Hi Dave
Wanted to also say thank you for this site....
It has been a great help to me. I have started counselling which is helping my bereavment also.
Out there in the world i have to live in people dont want to discuss bereavment openly.
On this site you can speak your mind, say how you really feel and you know others will listen, show support and advice and that they understand totaly where you are coming from...
Thanks Dave...

Hi Amanda.........I love it when I hear that all this has been so worth while. I knew another lady who was councelling and she also learned a lot from the people who came to this board.
Please feel free to give anyone here a chance to read something from you that will help heal there broken hearts.
Take care Amanda

Dave,
I would love to say a big "thank you" for setting up this site. I am so grateful as it has helped me enormously and I would be lost without it as I'm sure everyone on here would.
I don't know your story but do hope you have some kind of peace now. Derry also sprang to mind regarding the moderator! Many thanks to him and JW also.
Love,

Dave, I tried to open an account - but apparently 'JW' is already taken (even tried it with a fullstop and that was taken as well). Is somebody already registered with that nickname? I can do another name if need be....but I really would prefer to use 'JW'. Thanks!
I think Derry will be your 'main man' and I'll just hang around if/when he needs a bit of a backup.

I still have a long way to go, but now know i'm not alone.

Just to let Dave and everyone know I have now got logged in with the strange name you see (I tried about 5 before it would let me register.) So here I am, and will do my best to keep things clean and tidy!
As always , it is a privilege to read your emails and to try to help if |I can. For my pown par, I am doing O.K. with occasional blips, but as I frequently say, it is possible to get through the most savage grief if you communicate your feelings, and that is waht we are all doing. Be honest, no one is going to ignore or mock you on here, and if they do, I'll use my new POWER!
Love to all,
Derry

First of all Derry, Good Luck to you in your new 'post' as Moderator! I know you will be just great! I gave up trying to register....just wasn't going to happen, getting no where fast - I've had problems previously in trying to register with Network 54 but you have my email, so if I can help in any way, just drop me a line.
Glad to hear you are doing 'ok'.
Hugs

I too would like to add my thanks to Derry, you will be brilliant at this so good luck. You have already bee an inspiration to myself and most of us on here so you don't have to do anything different, do you, LOL
Thank you Dave for this web site. It is the only UK site that I have found for people like us that need to talk about their loved ones, we do so appreciate all your efforts.
Those first few weeks after my husband died I don't know how I would have stayed sane without coming here and telling my story and getting the feedback that helped me so much. I have also made many new friends on here and although I haven't been on here this week I usually do come in every day. We have a few family problems with my eldest grandson at the moment and as it is 8 weeks today since his grampy died, I think it is all connected. We are going to Portland Bill on Sunday to scatter the ashes and we are all stressed out today.
Thanks to everyone for all the help and support that I have received on here and I hope next week to be back daily again.
Take care Everyone,
love Lynn. xxx
