Dear Colleagues,
Imagine working on a Saturday afternoon, finishing your new wrestling room. Sanding floors, touching up paint, ECT….All of this work in the wrestling room was done by wrestling parents and all money was donated by the parents. And loosing it all two days later. Losing, your home, friends, school.
This is what has happen to our school. Holy Cross School for Boys has been standing for 126 years. On Sunday, August 28, 2005 we lost everything. Our beloved school is located in the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans, La. One of the most severely hit by hurricane Katrina.
Our boys have been displaced all over the United States, many losing their entire home. We have been holding school in what is now a new term in New Orleans, a “Transitional School”. We share a school with on of our sister schools and attend school from 2:00 pm till 7:00 pm. And we are still fighting to hit the mats for wrestling.
Our seniors are eager to complete their year and finish on the mats. This is where we need your help. From one wrestling brother to another. We are asking for any donations. Be it a fund raiser, meets in our honor, school donations. Our boys have suffered so much all we want is for them to have some normalcy in their remaining year.
The repairs to our school, which our boys call home, might take over a year. We hate to see them miss out on a year of wrestling. We have found a small space for practice but need so much to fill this room.
