Hi Everyone,
I am looking to cast some things (hands, feet) using alginate as a molding agent. I have done the molds in the past with good results and poured a plaster cast of my hand to test out the whole project. I hope to move ahead and make a fake hand using the skinrite 10 package at Artmolds... problem is or question that I have is the following: is skinrite compatible with an alginate mold? I have seen posted elsewhere that they are possibly not good combinations for moisture regards. Any one ever use these combinations or have suggestions, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I have been using skinrite with a skin-safe alginate (Fine artcast brand) and it works just fine as long as you inject the skinrite silicone into the cast within two hours of taking the original cast (from object or person). Once you have left it overnight the alginate will have shrunk and dried at the edges but the silicone will already have taken the impression. It worked fantastically well. I've also found that using a sieve while mixing the alginate cuts down on bubbles helping to attain the best detail.
