What Im trying to do is document a babys growth by casting the hand each week from the day its born until its first birthday.Delivery day is approaching and Im getting a little nervous( and its not even my baby...)If I get the cold cast kit, do I have to use it all at once or can I pro- rate it?It says that one kit will make one set of adult hands. How many infant hands is that?If I plan to divide up the mixture, do I need a gram scale...etc?Thanks for any help.

The problem with fingertips has been discussed in the past. You might check out past postings to see what solutions were proposed. One possibility might be getting a hypodermic syringe with a needle. After the casting material is poured into the mold insert the needle in where you think the fingertip might be and extract the air so the material can fill the void. It'll be hit and miss but will be better than nothing. You could also try pouring in just a little casting material at first. rotate the mold to a position (possibly upside down) to where the fingertips only will fill. When that is starting to thicken mix more material and quickly fill the mold after turning it right side up. It might not give you a perfect casting but it s/b better than no fingertips at all.
As far as the kits are concerned I've never used any of them so I can't help you with that.
One other thing... In the workshop I attended I was told not to attempt doing children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years as they won't sit still long enough.
Hope this has been helpful.
