Removing dried MoldGel alginate

Used this material to create a plaster model. However, there was not a clean separation between the plaster and gel, so there is residual gel on the model surface. Is there something that can remove the residual material? Being organic, I'm thinking anhydrous chlorine gas or ozone. I prefer something dry, as a liquid solvent may just be absorbed by the plaster and make matters worse. Open for suggestions.
