Song Chain

Ok...Im sure most of you have heard of a song chain. Someone starts with a title of a song. The next peroson adds another song title starting with any word in the original title, and then the next person chooses a song starting with any word in the title of the previous song, and so on, and so on.....

"Heart Shaped Box" by Nirvana

Have Fun,
Carol

Do You Believe In Magic

Do you believe in magic in a young girl's heart
How the music can free her, whenever it starts
And it's magic, if the music is groovy
It makes you feel happy like an old-time movie
I'll tell you about the magic, and it'll free your soul
But it's like trying to tell a stranger 'bout rock and roll

The best part of working nights when no one is around is that you can blast your radio to some old time rock n roll
and with the oldies..you can understand what they are singing about, compared to some of the music that is out there now..you can never go wrong with the oldies the music makes me feel alive and feeling good

edit to add>>> I know Cheri you are just dying to singalong with that one hahahahahaha

This Magic Moment

here Cheri...so you can sing to it!

This magic moment,
so different and so new
Was like any other until I kissed you
And then it happened,
it took me by surprise
I knew that you felt it too,
by the look in your eyes

Sweeter than wine
Softer than the summer night
Everything I want, I have
Whenever I hold you tight

This magic moment
while your lips are close to mine
Will last forever,
forever till the end of time

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm

Sweeter than wine
Softer than the summer night
Everything I want, I have
Whenever I hold you tight

This magic moment
while your lips are close to mine
Will last forever,
forever till the end of time

Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh
Magic moment
Magic moment
Magic moment

music back then...so simple ...right to the point!

Hey Jo here it is:

I just swear
That I'll always be there
I'd give anything and everything
And I will always care
Through weekness and strength
Happiness and sorrow
For better or for worse
I will love you
With every beat of my heart

From this moment life has begun
From this moment you are the one
Right beside you is where I belong
From this moment on

From this moment I have been blessed
I live only for your happiness
And for your love
I'd give my last breath
From this moment on

I give my hand to you with all my heart
Can't wait to live my life with you
Can't wait to start
You and I will never be apart
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you
I promise you this
There is nothing I wouldn't give
From this moment on

Your the reason I believe in love
And your the answer to my prayers from up above
All we need is just the two of us
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you
I promise you this
There is nothing I wouldn't give
From this moment

I will love you (I will love you)
As long as I live
From this moment on
mmmmmmm

ok trying to get back to thread

rain, mmm, therefore a song is "rain drops keep falling on my head"

re the couple songs, ours is by aerosmith "i dont want to miss a thing"

haha i think i mentioned once before that i thought he picked it cause of us, he just said he liked it, i did too, (very not us) but it just became our song and then i saw on one of those top 40 type things it was the song from the film armagedon hahahaha.

i said to him "that is how yo know the song and like it" haha nothing to do with us really, that is where he heard it, liked it first haha, but it is still our song

i suggested he come up with another one, but neither of us can. i have told him it is now his funeral song, when he dies i will play it hahaha

cheers all

September 23 2005, 6:47 AM

oh and another one

ok i am breaking the connection, but currently listening to my anthem, i need it tonight,

cheri i know you will KNOW this one, if you dont, you arent the singer i thought you were hahha if you are then join in.

damn i am posting all the words now - all find it and sing your lungs out to this my anthem and now yours, i give it to you all (actually the whole album is pretty cool)

QUESTIONS

Stare into God's face
Trying to find my place
Keeps avoiding me
That trace of who I want to be
Suffered injustice
Don't know what trust is
It slipped away
But I trust I'll find it somehow

[Chorus]
Been disconnected, embraced and rejected
Either way it doesn't bother me
But I keep moving, doing what I'm doing
Guess that's the way it's supposed to be
Who, what, where, and why
Voices walk with me at night
Who, what, where and why
Questions of my life

Angel on my shoulder
Wind blows colder
And I'm afraid
They might blow my angel away
I'm the dead ringer
There goes the chick singer
What they don't know
Is what they'll never see

[Chorus]
Been disconnected, embraced and rejected
Either way it doesn't bother me
But I keep moving, doing what I'm doing
Guess that's the way it's supposed to be
Who, what, where, and why
Voices walk with me at night
Who, what, where and why
Questions of my life

But I keep movin', doin' what I'm doin'
And all the fear I've held inside
Has left me with some peace of mind
And now love's knocking at my door
That's how I know there's something more

[Chorus]
Been disconnected, embraced and rejected
Either way it doesn't bother me
But I keep moving, doing what I'm doing
Guess that's the way it's supposed to be
Who, what, where, and why
Voices walk with me at night
Who, what, where and why
These are the questions of my life

Re: Song Chain

September 23 2005, 7:10 AM

this is a toughie

sober

Girl meets boy, girl goes crazy
Boy backs away, she gets her heart broken
No words are spoken
Boy comes back and acts
As if everything is cool
Soon she's got him back on a pedestal
She only sees what she wants to see
Love is blind, love is so misleading

(CHORUS)
I see the light, oh what a light
And I am sober
All that you served to me
No longer will I drink it in
I took the time to think it over
I see the you that I never knew
Now it's finally sinking in
I am sober

Girl wakes up and smells the coffee one day
Realizes she's on her own again
All alone again
Boy takes every opportunity
To play on every insecurity
Get her back on track
She's in a daze, back in the fire
But will she cave into her old desires

Hey, Kath...actually my husband gave me that one.....he was saying YEAH! when I read what you wrote about Billy and the Aztecs...

My H says: The whole album of Billy Thorpe, "Children of the Sun" was based on Nostradamus' prediction that in the end times the Children of the Sun would return to earth and take us away, back to where we belong.

There was a follow up album, but my H can't remember the name of it!!

Ok....now we have to think of another song for the chain....putting on thinking cap....back in a moment....ha ha ha

Ok.....Kath...I cheated and looked up Margret RoadKnight.....this is a tiny piece of what it said:

"Margret RoadKnight is Australia's finest interpretive singer. Internationally
reknowned and one of the most respected artists in her homeland of Australia."

Wow...she sounds fantastic!! Now.....I am dying of curiosity here...WHAT IS YOUR CONNECTION W/HER???? Did you sing with her? That's my guess....wow!!

Ok...also, good to see everyone jumping in with songs....this is such fun....

Yep, my H and I know a lot about music, after all, we were both DJ's, and I ran a radio station as the Program Director.

But, even before that, we were both music lovers....!

Here's my song to keep the song chain going:

I NEVER LIKED THE RAIN
by Clint Black a country/western song

Hugs....Cheri

P.S. Oh, YES....Annie Lennox is a Goddess!! She's always been my idol...
As well as Debra Harry....!!

I am also a big Loreena McKennit fan
And Enya
And Joan Jett
And...And....LOL LOL

Kath...I'm dyin here....ya gotta tell me what your connection w/Margret is??????

ah the connection with margaret, none really i just like her music hahahahaha, got ya haha.

well, i did go to school with a girl who is now in radio and her are margaret were mates, that is about as close as it gets haha.
i love her song, 'did jesus have a baby sister', very ironic, the Ice album was the best.

did i tell you that last year i took mr 17 to see debra harry and after the concert she signed his back. he came running up to me and said we have to get this tattoed in now. it was like midnight hahahha

i asked him how that happened and he said, the band, including her were signing things (he also got his LVT wallett signed to). she just said to him 'take your shirt off' and he did. i think it might have been his first sexual experience hahahhaha.

ok back to the songs.

'rain rain go away, come again another day' - sung by hundreds of kids over the years hahahah

now i should go to bed, spent all night listening to eva cassidy haha

Oh, Kath!! THAT was a good one!! You had me going! I looked ALL over the internet for Margret and Kath!!!!!!! LOL

Hey, if Debra Harry signed MY back, I'd be getting it permanently tattooed on MY back, too!

Ok....so....along with the song chain...

AWAY IN A MANGER

I have NO idea who originally created this song, but it IS sung by millions all over the world...

Let's keep the chain going, y'all!

Hugs, Cheri

Edited to add: Ok ok ok!! I couldn't resist finding out who wrote it and set the music to it...it was:

Words: John McFarland (1851-1913). Music: James Murray, 1887

There! I feel better....giggle

Right,

"Take My Breath Away"
by
Berlin

This one was from the soundtrack of the film "Top Gun" - a trendy film that I didn't see for years, because I didn't do trendy films that all the other kids went to...
As far as I recall, Berlin were a one-hit-wonder.

I enjoy Loreena McKennit as well - absolutely LOVE her rendition of Prospero's closing speech from "The Tempest", it's so haunting.

Enya is great (I have most of her albums), I wrote a competition level roleplaying scenario a few years ago inspired by the music on "Shepherd Moons" - it must have been okay, because half the roleplayers who played it were in tears (yes! success!!)

But my ALL TIME FAVOURITE artists (now disbanded) are Dead Can Dance (I DO have everything they have done bar one studio and one live album).
"Serpents Egg" has to be my favourite DCD album ("Within the Realm of a Dying Sun" close second) And Lisa Gerrard from DCD is possibly the most amazing female vocalist I can think of.
wow.

um, I'm off the topic I think - lol.

BRILLIANT DISGUISE (Springsteen)

February 28 2006, 4:56 PM

I hold you in my arms, as the band plays
What are those words whispered baby, just as you turn away
I saw you last night, out on the edge of town
I wanna read your mind and know just what I've got in this new thing I've found
So tell me what I see when I look in your eyes
Is that you baby, or just a brilliant disguise?

I heard somebody call your name, from underneath our willow
I saw something tucked in shame underneath your pillow
Well I've tried so hard baby, but I just can't see
What a woman like you is doing with me
So tell me what I see when I look in your eyes
Is that you baby, or just a brilliant disguise?

Now look at me baby, struggling to do everything right
And then it all falls apart when out go the lights
I'm just a lonely pilgrim, I walk this world in wealth
I want to know if it's you I don't trust 'cause I'm damn sure I don't trust myself

Now you play the loving woman, I'll play the faithful man
But just don't look too close into the palm of my hand
We stood at the altar, the gypsy swore our future was right
But come the wee wee hours, maybe the gypsy lied
So when you look at me, you better look hard and look twice
Is that me baby, or just a brilliant disguise?

Tonight our bed is cold
I'm lost in the darkness of our love
God have mercy on the man
Who doubts what he's sure of

AIEEEEEEEEE COUNTRYYYY!

(runs like heck, like any self-respecting goth would...)

So, not that I am a GREAT C.o.F fan, but,

"No Time to Cry"
by Cradle of Filth

and I quote...

It's just a feeling
I get sometimes
A feeling
Sometimes
And I get frightened
Just like you
I get frightened too
but it's...

(no no no) No time for heartache
(no no no) No time to run and hide
(no no no) No time for breaking down
(no no no) No time to cry

Sometimes in the world as is you've
Got to shake the hand that feeds you
It's just like Adam says
It's not so hard to understand
It's just like always coming down on
Just like Jesus never came and
What did you expect to find
It's just like always here again it's...

(no no no) No time for heartache
(no no no) No time to run and hide
(no no no) No time for breaking down
(no no no) No time to cry

Everything will be alright
Everything will turn out fine
Some nights I still can't sleep
And the voices pass with time
And I keep

[repeat]

No time for tears
No time to run and hide
No time to be afraid of fear
I keep no time to cry

(no no no) No time for heartache
(no no no) No time to run and hide
(no no no) No time for breaking down
(no no no) No time to cry

"Redneck Woman"
Gretchen Wilson

I had to list the lyrics, this is my theme song....LOL....but true!

Redneck Woman

Well, I ain't never been the Barbie doll type
No, I can't swig that sweet Champagne, I'd rather drink beer all night
In a tavern or in a honky tonk or on a four-wheel drive tailgate
I've got posters on my wall of Skynyrd, Kid and Strait
Some people look down on me, but I don't give a rip
I'll stand barefooted in my own front yard with a baby on my hip
'cause I'm a redneck woman
I ain't no high class broad
I'm just a product of my raising
I say, 'hey ya'll' and 'yee-haw'
And I keep my Christmas lights on
On my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Charlie Daniels song
So here's to all my sisters out there keeping it country
Let me get a big 'hell yeah' from the redneck girls like me, hell yeah
Victoria's Secret, well their stuff's real nice
But I can buy the same damn thing on a Wal-Mart shelf half price
And still look sexy, just as sexy as those models on TV
I don't need no designer tag to make my man want me
Well, you might think I'm trashy, a little too hardcore
But in my neck of the woods I'm just the girl next door
I'm a redneck woman
I ain't no high class broad
I'm just a product of my raising
I say, 'hey y'all' and 'yee-haw'
And I keep my Christmas lights on
On my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Tanya Tucker song
So here's to all my sisters out there keeping it country
Let me get a big 'hell yeah' from the redneck girls like me, hell yeah
I'm a redneck woman
I ain't no high class broad
I'm just a product of my raising
I say, 'hey y'all' and 'yee-haw'
And I keep my Christmas lights on
On my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every ol' Bocephus song
So here's to all my sisters out there keeping it country
Let me get a big 'hell yeah' from the redneck girls like me, hell yeah
Hell yeah, hell yeah
Hell yeah
I said hell yeah!

"The Wicca Man"
by Nosferatu

WICCA MAN
The day is lost to the given daughters
Broken lives with men like him
Girls in groups with blackened hands
Knights in shining shattered limbs

The time has come for you to lose
All you fought for a living soul
The time has come for you to lose
All you fought for
All you ever never had

Flicker the flames burn your hands
You know he'll take you down with him
Flicker the flames burn your hands
The Wiccaman, he'll trade with you

Girls in black with blackened hearts
Knights in shining rested armor

Flicker the flames burn your hands
You know he'll take you down with him
Flicker the flames burn your hands
The Wiccaman, he'll trade with you

Times that change, the wind that blows
The realms of beasts are given souls
The girls in groups with blackened hearts
The shapes of Angels, their noble hearts

Flicker the flames burn your hands
You know he'll take you down with him
Flicker the flames burn your hands
The Wiccaman, he'll trade with you

"Last Beat of My Heart"
by Siouxsie and the Banshees

(The song my W and I danced the first dance at our wedding to - now the irony of the words hits me in the gut every time I hear it, and it's such a beautiful song, too)

In the sharp gust of love
My memory stirred
When time wreathed a rose
A garland of shame
Its thorn my only delight
War torn, afraid to speak
We dare to breathe
Majestic
Imperial
A bridge of sighs
Solitude sails
In a wave of forgiveness
On angels' wings

Reach out your hands
Don't turn your back
Don't walk away
How in the world
Can I wish for this?
Never to be torn apart
Close to you
'Til the last beat
Of my heart

At the close of day
The sunset cloaks
These words in shadowplay
Here and now, long and loud
My heart cries out
And the naked bone of an echo says
Don't walk away

Reach out your hands
I'm just a step away
How in the world
Can I wish for this?
Never to be torn apart
Close to you
'Til the last beat
Of my heart

How in the world
Can I wish for this?
Never to be torn apart
'Til the last beat
'Til the last fleeting beat
Of my heart

Let's get this going again.

"What's up" by 4 Non blondes

Twenty-five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
And I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this brotherhood of man
For whatever that means
And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs
What's going on?
And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?
ooh, ooh ooh
and I try, oh my god do I try
I try all the time, in this institution
And I pray, oh my god do I pray
I pray every single day
For a revolution
And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs
What's going on?
And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?
Twenty-five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination

Up Up And Away

March 29 2007, 7:13 PM

Up Up And Away
by Jimmy Webb

Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon?
Would you like to glide in my beautiful balloon?
We could flat among the stars together, you and I.

For we can fly.
We can fly!
Up, up and away, my beautiful, my beautiful balloon!

The world's a nicer place in my beautiful balloon.
It wears a nicer face in my beautiful balloon.
We can sing a song and sail along the silver sky,

For we can fly.
We can fly!
Up, up and away, my beautiful, my beautiful balloon!

Suspended under a twilight canopy
We'll search the clouds for a star to guide us.
If by some chance you find yourself loving me,
We'll find a cloud to hide us, keep the moon beside us.

Love is waiting there in my beautiful ballon.
Way up in the air in my beautiful balloon.
If you'll hold my hand, we'll chase your dream across the sky,

For we can fly.
We can fly!
Up, up and away, my beautiful, my beautiful balloon!
