Does anyone know what road numbers were used for the MBTA's E8's?

The roster in "BOSTON'S COMMUTER RAIL" effective 1964 shows #4254, #4261 - #4266, & #4268 as stored out of service. So those numbers are correct but probably not all inclusive.

I have seen pictures of the E-8's with Penn Central and Pennsy paint schems in MBTA service and I think they retained their roads original numbers.

The old #4200 series units MBTA were stored behind BET (Boston Engine Terminal)for many years and scavenged for parts while the MBTA had steam heat trains. My father, Paul Gagnon, B&M Port. Div. engineer, used to see the mechanics periodically raping them during his layover from commuter runs at BET. The #4266 was moved to Billerica shops and cannibalized there to be a hulk as it had PC black paint but most of the cab equipment was still intact before it was sold for scrap. It was sad to see how this EMD went to its demise.

Here's the rundown on the PC E-8s that became "associated" with the B&M in the L/1970s.
4254 retired 1979, resold 1980s, several subsequent owners, ran on Broadway Limited Dinner Train for awhile. This was the next to last "B&M unit retired. I operated this unit a few times as FIREMAN on Southside Commuter trains.
4261, (ran in B&M Southside service until 1981) eventually sold to CNY Chapter NRHS (via the GMRC), currently masquerading as a DL&W unit, based in Syracuse NY. I operated this engine numerous times on Southside commuter trains just after being set up as a B&M engineer.
4262, retired 1976, never ran for B&M, shipped directly from New Haven CT to Billerica Shops in Early 1977. Believed to be now in New York State, being converted to stationary use as part of a restaurant.
4263 Retired 1978 or 1979, scrapped at Boston 1995.
4264 retired 1979, resold 1980s, several subsequent owners, ran on Broadway Limited Dinner Train for awhile
4265, retired 1976, never ran for B&M, shipped directly from New Haven CT to Billerica Shops in Early 1977. SCRAPPED Billerica, approx. 1995
4266 and 4268, sold to unknown buyer (in Texas?) in 1987/1988, whereabouts unknown
