Does anyone know when the Passenger station at Pond Street was torn down?
I have a picture of it taken in the teens, and my father(born 1923)does not remember seeing the building.
Also does any one know the exact date when the frieght house was torn down to build the First National grocery store, which I can remember from the late fifties?
Thanks in advance:
John Elliott

It is hard to tell from Employee's Timetables,
but I think the Newburyport freight station
on Pond St was in service circa 1950. The
most definite way of finding out might be
the Newburyport tax records, followed by the
Essex county registry of deeds. Alternatively,
check the Newburyport Public Library for old
issues of the Daily News.
