I have a collection of 19 old real photo postcards showing a major train wreck in Vermont. I am trying to determine where it happened, but I believe it might have been in the Lyndonville area. There are some clues. One of the box cars is identified as being built in 1922. The rescue crane is on a Boston & Maine flat bed. A locomotive at the scene is numbered 2329. The accident happened at a stone bridge over a small river. Many of the cars are Canadian Pacific. The views appear to be from the 1920s. Does anyone know when a major train wreck may have occured in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont during the 1920s? These views belonged to my wife's granfather who worked for the railroad in the Lyndonville VT area during the early to mid 1920s. Please email me at garyleve@aol.com Thank you.

Go to this website and look up Sept. 23, 1923, Boston and Maine, St. Johnsbury, VT. If this isn't it, keep looking in the 1920s files, it's probably there.

That was it! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. My wife's granfather worked for the railroad and must have taken the photos.
