Abandonment date for B&M trackage, Fabyan to Cog RailwayNovember 6 2007 at 1:06 PM No score for this post | John Flynn |
| Hi,
I recently walked the roadbed of the B&M between Fabyan,NH and the Cog Railway. I was wondering when this line was abandoned. The 1935 USGS Mount Washington, NH Quadrangle shows that the line was abandoned by this date.

The only thing I have found to date is the line was out of service in 1932 and formerly abandoned in 1938. This doesn't match your maps date though. Is it possible it is map with 1935 data that was updated later? |

The line from Fabyan's to Base Station saw its last passenger train August 31, 1931. The line was closed in June 1932. This from Lindsell's The Rail Lines of Northern New England.

Here's an odd twist, I ordered Lindell's book as well as "Lost Railroads of New England" on Saturday, they should arrive tomorrow. Thank you for helping me out with the dates.
