Three B&M owned Pullman sleeper cars that were converted to B&M Baggage cars were named Fort Greble, Fort Pickens and Fort Slocum. See text in B&M Newsletter Nov/Dec 2007 pg. 7. Article by Tim Gilbert.

Does anyone have the information as to why the three cars received the names that they did?

All 3 were U. S. Army coast artillery posts. Greble locate in Narrangansett Bay, Pickens located at the entrance to Pensacola FL and Slocum at the entrance from Long Island Sound to New York City.

Thank you
Gary
