I ahve been researching the Hampden Railroad, built in 1910-13 from Springfield to teh Central mass branch in bondsville.
Does anyone have any photos or info about this line?
I am finishing up my amnuscript for a book to be published later this year.

You should definately contact ROB BUCK (SR.) of Tuckers Hobbies in Warren MA (if you haven't already done so)
AS I recall, he has three large loose leaf binders jammed with photos of the HAMDEN RR as well as some personal 9or 2ndhand) recollectons.

My folks got me a fantastic new book for X-mas: "One Town & Seven Railroads: The Railroads of Palmer, Massachusetts, Past, Present, and Never Were" by the Palmer Public Library Advisory Board. It has a chapter with 8 or 9 pages devoted to the Hampden Railroad, with a lot of photos of its construction. It also has a good explination of why the railroad was constructed, and also why it never opened (ICC issues-- anti-trust problems).
