Paint Scheme

Question? When did the B&M change the paint scheme on the switchers from black with the triangle hearold to the red and white stripes with the minuteman hearald. I just bought a 44tonner and want to paint it. I model 1950. thank you.

Looking through an extensive amount of 44-tonner photos I can tell you that the black with square herald seemed to last up until 1947 on some units, and there was a short period (1945-1947) that the square herald appeared on some 44-tonners along with red stripes! The minuteman herald started to appear on B&M diesels as a rule in 1945.
I have a photo of 116 as late as 1947 sporting red stripes with square herald and one of 117 in 1945 with the same.
