Lesson #190 “I choose the joy of God instead of pain.”
Jesus is trying to tell us that pain
Is proof of our lower self-deception
Or, in any form…pain is not a fact.
That our pains proclaim God as cruel.
This is not a truth. (But have we learned much differently?)
(ACIM is encouraging us to “real eyes” that God loves His Children and He would not create a world of pain, fear, sickness, and punishment… and I, rell, am beginning to understand that would not be an unconditional loving God…who has never left us…nor, would never leave us, nor punish us!)
Pain is witness to us, God’s Children’s…mistakes
In what we think we are.
If God be Real…there is no pain.
If pain be real…there is no God.
Is Jesus wanting us to understand that it is
Our thoughts alone that cause us pain?
And that nothing external to our mind
Can hurt or injure us in any way?
And it is only us that can affect us with our thoughts?
As we begin to perceive the harmlessness
In all our own fearful thoughts
And everything we saw as fearful…
Can that begin to be seen as a source of innocence and holiness?
Jesus is asking us holy brothers to really think on this…
About how we have been looking at this egoworld…
That it does nothing. It has no effects.
That it merely represents our thoughts.
And when we change them
We can then elect to change our minds about them,
And choose God’s Joy as what we’ve always wanted.
Our HigherSelf is radiant in this holy joy!
This egoworld may seem to cause us pain.
Yet, it is causeless and has not power to cause.
As an effect…it cannot make effects.
egoillusions are what we wish…?
And only our idle wishes represent our pains?
Pain is the thought of evil
Working havoc in our holy mind.
Pain is the ransom we’ve gladly paid not to be free.
When in pain we are denying God His Children’s Love.
When in pain…fear appears to triumph over love,
Our sense of time…replacing eternity and Heaven.
Jesus asks us to lay this sort of thinking down.
And enter God’s open door of quietness.
To lay down all thoughts of danger and of fear…
Here we can and will understand there is no pain.
It is this:
Pain is illusory;
Joy is Reality.
Pain is but sleep;
Joy is awakening.
Pain is lower self-deception;
Joy alone is truth!
We choose again today
Between illusions or truth?
Pain or joy?
Our sort of hell or Heaven?
Let gratitude be in our hearts now…
As we are free to choose joy
And the peace of God! …amen!
