MIAMI - October 13, 2009 - Telemundo announced the start of initial filming of "El Clon," starring Sandra Echeverria and Mauricio Ochmann.
Set in an exotic urban landscape of passion, prostitution and drug trafficking, "El Clon" tells the unforgettable story of Jade and Luke. Their forbidden love transcends the barriers of science, time and lifestyle choices.
Jade, a beautiful woman from a poor family, is forced to sell her body to cocaine smugglers in Mexico. She flirts with death on a daily basis and fears her days are numbered. Soon Jade is forced to flee for her life into a dangerous world of intrigue, violence and betrayal.
Escaping to Morocco, she falls for Luke, a hired killer who is off limits. Knowing that their love will never be accepted, they decide to run away. But their dreams are suddenly shattered when Luke is believed killed in a drive-by shooting.
Thanks to advances in science, Luke is cloned by a scientist -- and twenty years later, Leo (the clone) meets Jade, who now has her own narcotics empire. Jade is deeply conflicted by the appearance of this bisexual man who looks exactly like her lost lover.
Then Luke is unexpectedly released from a Turkish prison and begins searching for Jade. She is forced to fight for true love in this new world.
The premiere of "El Clon" in the United States is expected in the first quarter of 2010.
