My guess is that he's talking about simple mathematics of the overall ski area, not the steepness of any particular run or runs. Alpental is a comparatively small ski area, but it has some incredible steep terrain. It would be interesting to ask him what parameters he used (run, rise, overall acreage, etc.) to "do the math!", so his claim can be properly discussed and disputed. And no doubt there would be discussion about the method of calculation as well; everybody will want to make the calculations favor their hill.
