Usually its around Christmas unless we get significant early snow. The Nordic portion of their operation will usually kick off a bit earlier then that.
I went through my notes from the past 6 years or so and all opening weekends were between 12/24 and 1/10. Usually they like to open Hyak when the xmas crowd hits, but not before. I think partially they are trying to save operational cash, and/or they also don't have the staff to run the area yet as they always seem to take a long time to get themselves fully staffed.
