If that were true then why would they cut back on Nordic instead of expanding the schedule. When it was brought over to Hyak (and even over at SilverFir) they used to have Wed and Fri night nordic (lights were added in the beginner nordic area) but that was discontinued after one or 2 years because it was losing money.
Besides what was mentioned in the previous message, the nordic folks also don't bring in kids, lessons, and their numbers are far fewer then the downhill folks. There is no way the ski resort would stop using the downhill runs because Nordic folks don't want to deal with crowds (who does). Except for Creek Run/Serpentine the trails are separated so there should be no issues. The biggest problem at Hyak is nobody checks for passes. Anyone can skin up the hill and ski along the trails, or ride the lifts w/o being checked for a day or season pass. I've only been checked maybe once a year at Hyak for the past 3 years and NEVER when the lifts open. I also have never seen anyone check for nordic passes.
