Well, after looking through my notes from the past 10 years I found the earliest closing was also the season with the most recorded snowfall in that period. Feb 28, 1999. That year we continued to have snowfall into May and I was able to ride down the face of Hyak on June 2 (over 3 months after closing the lifts).
The latest closure was in 2006 on April 2. I don't count the Ski Down events since those were not normal operating days. On average they usually closed around mid March then closed Nordic operations a week after downhill. That seemed to be the normal way they did things, but this year the crowds seem to be hanging around longer then years past. If they are going to keep Nordic going, I wish they would just run the Keechelus lift for those of us who don't care about grooming in the spring.
I wonder if the Womens group has approached Boyne about reviving the Ski Down?
