When the conditions are good, what puzzles me is why not keep Summit East open on weekends? It's got to be the least cost operation they've got, with just two lifts and very well-defined areas that need to be groomed - not the time-consuming wide open spaces of West or Central. Close West, since you can have basically the same experience at Central. Summit West has got to cost plenty more than Hyak to run, with a larger base area and more lifts.
To make sure there is revenue, they would most certainly need someone out there checking tickets, which they don't do often enough IMHO. They'll never make any money as long as they keep letting people have unlimited Hyak skiing for free.
