Your recent inquiry regarding Summit East (Hyak) was forwarded to me. Im not surprised youve heard all sorts of rumors, so here is the straight scoop!

Our crews are working seven days a week to do whatever we can to finish both lifts prior to the Christmas holiday period. Once the work is completed, however, we do still have to have time for thorough testing and inspections before being able to open them to the public. Its going to be tight but were giving it our best shot. If we do miss the holiday period (which I do think is at least a 50% chance) we should be in good shape for an early January opening. We still have some small mechanical things to get done but we are mostly down to electrical work on both lifts. Unfortunately this part of the project always has to come at the end and is fairly time consuming.

Feel free to check back in a couple weeks. We will aim to keep our Eyes on the East site up to date and will certainly aim to keep people posted on our best estimate for an opening date as soon as we can put one out that we have high confidence in.

By the way, I think you are going to be absolutely amazed at how the area skis compared to what was there before! The trails on the Hidden Valley side are amazing and the new ones off the top knob on the front are going to be unbelievable. Sorry for needing a little extra patience right now but Im pretty darned sure youre not going to be disappointed when it does open!
