Summer Skiing/Riding

I just got back from a week at Hood in Mount Hood Summer Ski Camps. I went partly because I've always wanted to (but could never justify it) but mostly because I knew my son would love it but was too young (9 years old) to go alone.

WOW! What a great time. The ski camp is SO setup for both skiers and riders, and both freestyle and racing. After 28 years, they really have it together.

The mountain has their act together too. Palmer is a HSQ, with a mid-station (unusual), and Magic Mile is also a HSQ. Up until about July 1st this season (one week before we got there), you could ski all the way down to the parking lot (2,500 verts). When we left, walking was required for about the last 75 vertical feet.

Recreational skiing/riding was limited as the race lanes take up nearly all the available hill-space.

I have to start saving my money, as my son wants to go back next year. I'm hoping he will have a buddy other than me to go with by then. My muscles and and bruises will have completely recovered soon, but the memories, pictures, and videos will last much longer.

Around Memorial weekend is best. Camps haven't really started and there is plenty of snow.
