That helicopter flew over my house on thursday afternoon and it was the weirdest copter I have ever seen. Then I saw it turn and land by SIlver Fir and I figured it was there for the lift.
Looking at the construction site last Saturday from bottom to top I still say don't hold your breath waiting to board any new quad this coming season. Where are the new towers? Where are the base facilities?
As I recall someone mentioned that there is a considerable time needed for the concrete to cure. I agree they are pushing this. I know Baker began their quad replacement with 15' of snow still on the ground. Then again, the terrain they have to negotiate with and the mid load station problem, I guess they needed all the time they could get before the snow flies.
Silver firs, I think once the concrete cures its pretty much a bolt together assembly that goes quick. On another note, when I was hiking up Hyak last weekend I noticed a large pile of old double chairs stacked at the bottom of the Kecheelus lift. They are not new so I dont know what they would be doing with them or where they came from. ANyone got any ideas?
I noticed last night either the top or bottom terminal for the new quad at silver fir was sitting in the parking lot. It looked like some towers had been scattered up the hill as well. Good stuff!
