Unfortunately it's changing to slop

January 4 2009, 10:25 AM

Of course it's going to turn nasty: I have to travel across the Pass to Bellevue for a dr appointment! We use this site for weather forecasts, it has proved fairly accurate.

Yay!

Turning out to be one heck of a great winter! I envy you folks who live on the mountain! After 20 years of living in Easton, the Pass still feels like home to me.

Pass closed again

January 5 2009, 6:52 AM

Yeah, and we're closed with no re-opening set. Extreme avalanche danger. No news on 1610 re: caravans, but if I hear anything I'll post.

Unofficial - WB from summit

January 5 2009, 8:59 AM

I heard talk about opening up the 52 to let some of the residents escape. It's not on the 1610 radio yet. I'll let y'all know if I hear more (like a time). If you're desperate to leave you can weigh the choice to go and wait. I heard them talk also of escorting some of the trucks that are stuck just east of the Summit around the lake.

Opening the ramps

January 5 2009, 9:51 AM

Sounds like they're going to open all the ramps (we'll see about that) from the Summit. Still no word on when people would be able to come back. I also haven't heard anything about caravans, so I'm not clear on if this will be escorted or if you're on your own.

Avalanche control

January 5 2009, 11:29 AM

They're about to start avalanche control so no leaving right now. Let's hope that once they do this and clean up from it they'll reopen the Interstate.

Shutting 52 onramp soon

January 5 2009, 4:20 PM

For those that want to scoot down off the mtn you'd better do it. They're going to do some avalanche control work soon and they'll block the 52 onramp to do it.

Just cleared the roads in Hyak Estates

January 5 2009, 9:09 AM

The grader and blower wonder twins just cleared Innsbruck drive. My guess is that we got about 12 inches overnight and it is still coming down...

Since I am trapped here at the pass it looks like I might have to do a skin lap on Greyson's before the rain comes

Shovel

January 5 2009, 10:25 AM

I was planning to come up at noon to shovel out my parking spot. I hope the wonder twins didn't fill up my parking with sludge off Insbruck. I want to clear out the snow before the rain makes it twice as heavy, and double sticky.

Heavy...

January 5 2009, 10:53 AM

I just did a pass on our neighbor's place. The snow has gotten pretty crummy in a hurry with wet snow/rain on top of the nice powder. Almost like New Year's day, but with more wet snow than rain.
