Better throw your snow chains in the trunk if
youre heading over the pass.
The National Weather Service in Seattle has
issued a winter storm warning for the mountains
through 5 p.m. Tuesday. The forecast calls for
up to a foot of snow through Tuesday morning,
with heavier amounts possible between Stevens
and Snoqualmie Pass.
Snow began falling this morning at Stevens Pass,
said Dennis D'Amico, a weather service meteorologist
in Seattle. A cool system could bring even more
snow to the mountains later this week, he said.
Two more storms are heading toward the mountains.
Its common for snow to start falling in the
mountains in October, DAmico said.
The weather service is predicting a warmer, drier
winter than last year, he said.

I also saw someone headed eastbound didn't make the curve there at 53. Looked like a bad accident. Some people and either a tow truck or DOT vehicle had already stopped so we kept going. I think they likely hydroplaned, as it had been raining very, very hard.
Lots of lightning tonight too. Didn't hear any thunder but saw 5 or 6 bright flashes between North Bend and the summit.
It's still dark out but there's at least 2" at my place at the base of Hyak. I'd bet there's more at your place since you're a little bit higher up the hill, eh Jack?
I'm sure the hills got a fair amount, we were just on the verge a lot yesterday and got some pretty wet stuff.
NWAC shows both the Keechelus and the Alpy levels at 5" or so.
The snow's falling again and according to the radar and predictions we should get some real measurable stuff. Stack's talking about going out toward Kendall or similar to see if he can get a little cross country action later today!
I'm currently in Yakima so I won't see the snow til I get back Sunday. Chinook was snowy Thursday night when I drove over and I guess they have 2' as of yesterday so they closed the pass. White Pass is expecting 2' I hear.
