I was looking in the gallery and saw a heavy rail scoutcar by Domingo Hernandez. Who makes this model and where can I order one? Did the Germans use Panzer 3 or 4 turrets (or both)?

This must be the heavy rail scoutcar by Verlinden. It comes with a Pz lll turret with short 75mm gun, and I think also with a small MG turret, and a section of track. Unfortunately both the hull and turret are solid resin castings and cannot be modeled with open doors or hatches, although the Pz lll turret can be replaced with a Tamiya one. A few years ago Dragon released several versions of this vehicle in 1/35. If you can find an old Dragon catalogue at your LHS, or on line, you could see what other kinds of armament it carried.

2 options

Hi,

as said, the model built by D. is from Verlinden and has several mistakes. If you want to add more detail like open hatches, etc. you can go with the mixed media kit offered by FONDERIE MINIATURE, though you must expect a typical FM kit here. You can have a look at the parts on their website:

Plastic car with resin turret. Still you have the option to throw in a turret from the Tamiya kit plus an Armorscale, Armo etc. barrel.

Thanks Leo and frank. I looked at the site and it lists in the US:
MILITARY MODELS DISTRIBUTORS,
1115 Crowler drive
CARROLTON
Texas 75011 5010
I wonder if this is the Squadron site?

Well, I visited the MILITARY MODELS DISTRIBUTORS site and it seems there are more than just Squadron there, including Hobbycraft. I found the Verlindin model on the Squadron site but not the Fonderie model. I tried the Hobbycraft site but came up with zilch. So, fellow modelers, has anyone ever purchased one of these Fonderie miniatures kits and if so, who do I order it from? Thanks for the help.

Regards,

Clary Peters

Got One From Squadron

Got the command version. It was on a major sale - sill in the shrink wrap though. I want to make it an operating model and correct the gauge, so a little work will be required
