Following on from the thread below, this M10 17pdr looks like it has the earlier type of turret (and counterweights). For added value, it also has the rarely-seen applique armour panels fitted (and EECs)
Sigh, yes I gotta do this one too - look at the applique armor on the turret and the hull, the early turret (I can use the MR late turret parts for a late US 3" M10), and the T64 British type tracks (another set of Hauler PE extended end connectors - oh the humanity!).

I have looked again at these steel chevron tracks, and I think they are probably standard T54E1 steel chevron rather than the curved riveted T64s. At least that's what I'll testify to at the trial.... Still have to make up another set of Hauler EECs though.....
Gasoline makes treads like the T54, with EEC's on them, GAS48046K, but... the EEC's are wrong for the M10 in the picture. The Hauler EEC's look right. I wish Gasoline would make these treads without the EEC's, it would be of great use for the Brit Fireflies and Shermans.
Malcolm, the Hobby Boss M4A3 Sherman kits have the T54E1 steel chevron tracks, and they are not bad though they are vinyl or something similar. You can also cut off the EECs from the GasoLine T54E1 tracks and use the cut sides as the inside of the tracks when you mount them. We really need the T54E2 or T64 curved steel chevron tracks the British used so much - very few Sherman Vs used anything else, including the Fireflies.
Thanks to Mark Gilmore, do you have any idea of how many sets of T54E2 or T64 steel tracks I'm going to need????? You'll be rich beyond the dreams of avarice (apologies to Al Capp).... Say, you couldn't see your way clear to doing them with EECs like the Hauler ones, could you? (Please, please....)

This version of the Achilles is rare but not unheard of. There were a few.
What is very different is the add-on armour. Great Photo! Thanks for posting!
The Jan-Apr 1991 cover of George Blandford's AFV News a photo of one taken from the rear. The caption reads that it is from 21st Anti-tank Reg,Guards Armd Div in Hassum, Germany, Feb 1945. George, do you still have the photo? If so would you be so kind as to post it? There are lot of cool features on it such as the .50 cal being mounted on the front of the turret and the two fire exstiguishers be mounted on the rear verticle hull plate.
Technically this is a 'Achilles Ic' The British referred to the early M10 with the orginal counter weights and beveled turret rear as the 'M10 MKI' and the later M10 with the duck-bill counter weights and simplified turret rear as the 'M10 MKII'. I beleive, but have not been able to verify, that the name 'Achilles' was applied to all M10's thus the 17pdr version being a 'IIc' just like a Sherman Firefly was 'MK Vc'
