Crusader paint experiment

This is my completed Tasmiya Crusader. The finish on the vehicle was my experiment using the "hairspray technique." The vehicle was given an Alclad metallic finish. Then a hairspray coating was applied, followed by the desert tan topcoat. The tan paint was then weathered away to give the look of sandblasted, blistered paint.

Hi Joe;

Hi Mate;

I think this technique shows a lot of promise. The effect is quite nice, but the first road wheel in the last pic is perfect!
Keep at the experiments, it's looking good.

Cheers, Pat

I think it works. Like your Desert Tan color, what did you use?

I like this effect. How did you remove the tan paint to reveal the undercoat?

Hi Joe,

Ditto to all of the above!

I think this effect works really well for monotone finishes like this Crusader.

I like the effect you got on your Crusader.

Clever way to branch out on that technique,

Konrad

Thanks all for the comments. Greg the tan color is a mix of 2parts XF-59 desert yellow, 1part XF-72 JGSDF brown, and some XF-2 white so you can tint the color to your liking.

Leo, the tan coat is removed with a toothpick(chipping effects) and a Q-tip moistened with water as well a shortened stiff bristle paint brush,also moistened with water.

konrad, it was good to see you at the IPMS Nats.
