Beautiful! I really like how your retained the original color around the Balkenkreuz and the Africa Corp Insignia. The paint scheme tells the story of the AFV. Can't wait to see the finished model...

Hi Brano,

Beautiful work! Are you going to put this model in a diorama?

1/48 dioramas?

October 12 2007, 5:28 PM

Unless IPMS establishes a catagory for 1/48 diaramas, they will be lumped together with 1/35. And that's a form of suicide. Dioramas require figures, and, as yet, there are not enough figures in 1/48 to rival the multitudes of those in 1/35 - there is nothing that even comes close to Dragon's excellent G2 figs. I enjoy planning dioramas (I used to be a 1/35'er) but there simply is not a large enough variety of poses or of convertable figs in our scale to make an interesting scene. 1/35's variety, quantity, and quality will always beat the best in 1/48. It's the figures that make or break a diorama.

Figures in 1/48....

This is a problem, Leo, and I hope the future releases from Fox Miniatures will level the playing field, so to speak. They look superb and the detail is even more impressive given the much smaller size in 1/48. Guess we have to wait to the end of the year.....

That is a great model - I just returned from a trip to Maryland that included a stop at the Aberdeen Proving Ground museum, and your model looks the part.

Can't wait to see in covered in alkali dust.
