Hi Gang -

I just read the review on M-L for the AA Scammell SV/2S by Jay Laverty, and I have to say that it is about the least effort put forth for the donation of a free review sample that I've ever seen. Their "What's New" page touts it as a review "with pictures of all the multi-media parts", which is simply untrue. I emailed M-L to that effect, and to point out that there was not enough info to convince me to shell out a lot of money for one, even though this is a vehicle that interests me greatly.

Maybe AA sent one to Terry Ashley too, and he will write up a real review. The AA website pics of the kit are also crummy, so before I spend $110 + shipping from the UK, I'll have to have my curiosity satisfied better that what I've seen so far on this kit.

I wish I could get companies to send me free samples to review, I'd damn sure do better than this "here's a few basic pics of the resin alone, it's great, buy three" BS review. In my book that's just plain dog lazy, and isn't getting the manufacturer much return at all for sending out free product.

Sorry for the rant, but it's been a long week -

Malcolm

Scammell Masters

Thank you, Dragos -

That is a much better look at the model, better even than pictures of the parts. Now if only the US Dollar was not down so much...

There is just something about the Scammell, it's like the original "monster truck". Add the rear wheel chain-and-grouser setup, and it must have been practically unstoppable.

Happy to be helpful for you !
I share the same opinion with you, Malcom, about this beautiful and agresive truck !
For a better insight, check this pictures of the model and master of the little brother (in 1/72) of SV/2S, made by the same master-maker, for WESPE-Models:

Making good (say helpful) reviews is difficult....

that's why I never would do one myself. I always send the 1/48th scale samples I manage to get to other people/modelers for doing a review. Worked out fine in the past with Brett Green from HYPERSCALE/MISSING-LYNX sites.

Best

Frank
