Nice job Alex on your M4A3.   Can you share your painting and weathering techniques?

Hey, thats not fair. Photographing a 1:1 relic and passing it of as a model. You did do that, right?

Brings back memories of the Aberdeen collection back in the '70s..... Very nice, the painting effects are wonderful, and note the techniques can be used to achieve any sort of worn or flaking paint you want, including decaying winter whitewash/white paint schemes. Alex, quite impressive.

Thanks for compliments!

Primarly,I was using "yeast and sponge technique",combined with
drybrushing and decoloration with artist oil paints.
"Yeast and sponge" is well described step by step
in Model Military International -october 2006,page 52-55
by modeler Mr.Les Smith.
Excelent technique, simple, fast and very efective especially for
winter washes.
My Tamiya Stug III B 1/48 is also done in that technique, but in
winter condition from Russian front.
It will apear soon on Track 48

This Sherman represents tank abandoned 30-40 years ago
and it was done by picture of real tank
Material used for Sherman;
Model Master :faded olive drab, raw umber, burnt siena and flat white
combined with faded olive drab, Mig rust pigment
and black oil artist pint

Hi Alex....

November 7 2007, 2:33 PM

Quite possibly the best effect of a derelict tank I've ever seen in 1/48. Absolutely stunning!

Hats off Mate. Very very well done.

Cheers, Pat
