Equipment anyone?

Well, here's some food for thought. We are sitting on some very interesting US WW2 Tech Manuals and alot of WW2 vintage equipment here at our shop. It would be really easy to scale this stuff down. How many times have you seen those Pyramidal Tents in WW2 Photos in the field and on airstrips? Or maybe you're getting tired of seeing the Standard US Army Fieldpack or Musette Bag and are looking for other items to decorate your US Armor Models? How about some USMC WW2 Accessory items? Feedback anyone?

Hi Bob and Steve,

USMC equipment would be good and tents for airfield dioramas, etc. sound good, too.

Piles of supplies.

December 6 2007, 5:04 AM

Something that 1/35th seems to enjoy.....piles of crates or barrels- maybe partially covered with a tarp- that are either designed to fit a particular kit (GMC Deuce and a Half/Krupp Proetze??, or, maybe a couple small ones to fit the US trailer just announced by Hauler), or just designed to sit alone somewhere. I just bought something like this from Mk.35 for a scene I'm doing.......Yes Santa, I've been bad....I've modeled in 1/35th this year......I feel shame....

Stowage would be great. Tarps, bedrolls, bags, boxes, etc are in very short supply in our scale.

Matt
P.S. Can I please vote again for the M4 composite hull.... twice?

I'll see your composite hull vote and add my vote to the list-a composite hull is greatly desired by Firefly fans

That makes 10 for the Composite Hull Sherman and it is, by far, in the lead. I know, it just breaks your hearts, doesn't it?

Do I hear Eleven??

December 6 2007, 9:43 AM

Yes!! From over in the far corner....waving the paddle!! That's eleven for the composite hull.
Gee, I feel like I'm voting for Dancing with the Stars.....without the cheap feeling for voting repeatedly for Juliette....talk about HOT!!!.....but I digress/wander/dream......back to LUST...for RESIN!!! That's perfectly normal....??

Composites

With all that reference material stacked in your shop, I reckon just about anything would be good! I'd love to see some engines for example. With a crate, and some troops doing the work. Could generate some more sales for that M32 conversion that someone does....

The more the better.......

December 6 2007, 12:54 PM

Hi.

Compared to 1/35, I would love to see anything you guys can make, we need so much for equipment, especially Allied. So I would be up for anything you lads make. I am kind of collecting as much stowage stuff as I can get.
I figure you can never have too much stowage, especially for US/Commonwealth vehicles.

Anything you guys decide is great with me.

Cheers, Pat

Cal.30 & Cal.50 resin ammo boxes

December 6 2007, 1:03 PM

Bob,

Regarding US equipment, in my opinion surely one of the best seller aquipment items you can produce is one good set of Cal.30 & Cal.50 resin ammo boxes every US vehicle needs actually, and if you offer some kind of profi-pack format including one dozen each then that reaches perfection to me.

Tamiya and Hobby Boss do not provide good ammo boxes, MR are good but incorrect type (post WWII) and Verlinden ones are terrible really. Only Hauler has one fret with 6 x Cal.50 ammo boxes, but if you want the Cal.30 box, then you can get one only with its excellent M1919A2 w/tripod.

The Hauler PE stuff is simply perfect -I already used it- and usefull to get open and/or empty ammo boxes but it is one time consuming set for the little addition 6 boxes mean in the practice over one tank or softskin model.

Bear in mind that is one of the easiest set to produce in resin as parts are just tiny blocks indeed and final cost can be reasonably cheap, which means popular among modellers.

Honestly I hope one of you (Bob , Tim or Jan ) will attend to this suggestion one fine day in the future attending to the great potential that set has.

Best
Lu

Looks like I've opened up another "Can of Worms"! Yes Folks, I've spent the last few hours sculpting some small stuff for you (needed a break from the Stug and Sherman Lower Hull sets). Now on to some wooden cases, Jerry Cans and Barrels! Ooops, can't forget those new turrets and that funny looking hull that's squared-off in the back and rounded in the front.

Bruce: Sent you the wrong m4A3 Hulls, the good ones are coming!

The quick response time.....

December 6 2007, 5:04 PM

is GREATLY appreciated by this group. I am certain that there have been only a few rare instances where a manufacturer has asked for what we want....and produced it in such a timely manner. Thank you, TopGun!!!
If you gents start to do the accessories...like the EXCELLENT suggestion for ammo boxes !!- please look VERY hard at supplying the yellow stencil markings on them. These will be impossible to duplicate by myself....maybe others are in the same boat. If they come WITH the markings....that will make them worth even more!! And any kind of generic stencils or labels for anything else would be nice....or the stencilling on the ammo crates- in white.....or black, as necessary...Thanks again Guys!!!!

Small request

December 6 2007, 5:45 PM

Hi Bob! I have one small request. Could you please post on T48 when you have produced something new? I am finding it difficult to keep up with items that ARE on the market now, and items that WILL or COULD BE in time. A guys gotta keep informed somehow! I have over 50 sites to try to keep up with, and it's starting to wear me down!

Re: Small request

December 6 2007, 10:47 PM

Will do Ken. There's only 5 now, three Sherman Hulls and Two Sherman Turrets.
Three more Sherman turrets, two more Sherman Hulls, two new Resin Sherman Lower Hulls, One STUG IV conversion and a nice US Accessories set are all scattered around my workbench and being completed within the next 1-3 weeks. Also have just sculpted two 1/48 scale heads, just need the bodies to go with them. Does that help you?

Got alittle delayed with the STUG IV (Treadplate problem), sorry folks!

Bob

Re: The quick response time.....

December 7 2007, 9:20 AM

Thanks for the compliment Dave and you are very welcome! To make things work, you have to keep the lines of communication open and actually listen to what others have to say. That is why we are going to keep producing what our fellow Modellers are looking for and actually need. And on another point, if I make a bad mistake on something let me know about it and it will be corrected.

I hope I am not to late making requests on this thread, but please include some of those 10 gallion oil cans you see all over Shermans and other US vehicles. The Tamiya 1/35 early M4 has nice copies.

An Equipment Idea

December 14 2007, 9:28 PM

Hi Bob and Steve -

Although not US issue, an item I would like to have handy would be the pith helmets used in the desert war and elsewhere. I don't have the time to tease Photobucket to function on this forum to post an image, but I have a lovely one of a DAK issue item I will send you. These were the lightweight cork helmets worn in the tropics. My Dad refers to them as a "Bombay Bowler". Many pictures of DAK vehicles have these hanging on the exteriors.

Cheers -

Malcolm
