Tamiya Sherman with Tim Perry's P/E and towing rings, Gasoline hatches, Caliber 48 deep wading trunks, Archer resin decals. All welding seams redone and putty waterproofing on guns. When it's finished it will represent "Columbia Lou" of 70th Battalion at Utah on D-Day. Comments and criticisms welcome.
Simply awesome, Leo! I love the look of those deep wading stacks! This brings to mind a fact that I have known for some time...if you really want to model a specific tank, and have sufficient funds, you can find most any accessory.
Thanks for your comments. Every time I build a new model I try to improve over the last one. Gets costly though with all the AM improvemts. I might as well wait for Tim's tracks for the best appearance as this model won't be finished until early next year. And I still have to find or make appropriate decals. At least I already have the "Joe Peckerwood" character decal; the rest I can probably scrounge from various decal sheets.
Beautiful! I have been wanting to do this tank but with a dozer blade for quite some time. Does Caliber 48 still make the trunks? I have a Verinden blade set so all I need is the trunks.
Also, is this for D-Day? What battalion are you doing?
I ordered my Caliber 48 trunks from Gasoline (or 1/4 Scale) through Track 48. Just ask Meeta. (I think Steve Faxon also makes a deep wading trunk kit). The tank is #15, named 'Columbia Lou', after Lou Gehrig, Co. C, of the 70th Tank Battalion. I'm basing my build on an illustration in Osprey Campaign D-Day #2, Utah Beach, and on photos and illustrations in Concord's 'US Armored Funnies' by Steve Zaloga.
All the casting marks and serial numbers - on the transmission covers, and there are more on the bogie towers, turret top and rear - are the 3-D resin decals by Archer Fine Transfers. On a single sheet there are numbers and manufacturer names in 1/72, 1/48/, and 1/35 scales.

Leo, As you show so well....these are soooooo easy to use. I just did an M4....and a 1/35th E10....used them on a bunch of things. The smaller numbers, etc. can be used on Trannys, exhausts, and anything cast that might have something like these on there. I put mine on with Solvaset...under and over....and there is zero evidence of the film. I'm very impressed with this new technology. Any manufacturer could use these to create a much more realistic master for their products, too.....
Your Sherman shows just how well you can combine the aftermarket and kit to produce a unique model !!
