Hi All
I need a little help if possible on the Pz IV Ausf D please.

I believe that D P Dyer released some Pz IV Ausf D drawring in 1975 (Bellona Pub?). Are the drawring worth having and if so does any body have a set they could copy and send to me please? I will pay any cost incured. BTW i live in the UK.

I am building a Pz IV Ausf D using the Tamiya IV J and the Battalion Bits conversion. I'm planning a French 1940 version.
The conversion is good but for a 1940 ausf D i need to alter a few things.

The Pz IV D in early 1940 only had the suspesion dampeners on the first and last wheel stations NOT the middle ones. Is this correct? I have read this but it is difficult to validate in photos. The book states that the middle two wheel dampners were only retro fitted late in 1940 after the French campaign

I have the Actung Pz IV book but its not 100% clear on this issue. Once i have all the info I need I will post a list on T48 of the changes need for the info of others
Many thanks in advance
andrew

Hi There

I've got the drawing if you want a copy. It'll have to be snail mail as I haven't got a scanner. The drawings have probabily been superceded by Panzer Tracts 4 which show 5 bump stops fitted. Dyer shows only the very first and last. Panzer Tracts specifically mentions all 5 being fitted. The following thread may also help

send me a PM with your address and I'll send you what you want.

Retrofitting bumoper stops.....

This appears to refer to the ausf C, which was built with dampers just on the end bogies, and had the middle ones added later. The ausf Ds apparently all had the five dampers installed during production.

Many Thanks Bruce

I also put the request out on ML. Tom Cockle also came back at 5 each side.

I read the 2 dampners in the Modelart Superdetail book on the the Pz IV D upgraded. In it they stated early ausf D with only 2 dampners. As this was the only reference to this and it was quite hard to see in all the photos i had, i though best to ask the experts.

It just means i now have to change the dampners on the Tamiya metal hull the the early style. God I wish they would make the chassis in plastic!!!

regards
Andrew
