I have been lucky enough to spring for a trip to AMPS in April, at the WW2 Victory Museum in Auburn, Indiana. Was hoping there were some others on the board who might also be going, so we can meet up and put faces to names, and defend ourselves against the onslaught of the 35th folk.

Cheers,
Andrew

AMPS....

February 13 2008, 5:46 PM

As you know, Andrew, I am planning on it, and have paid for the convention. Now I have to find a hotel, since I dropped the ball on that. I could live in my car or something.....

Hotels for AMPS....

February 13 2008, 6:33 PM

Andrew told me the main hotel was, but there are two others, so I should be able to find something. Remember that people come from around the world for this show and contest. I wish I had....

Probably.....

February 13 2008, 6:48 PM

I heard that the three closest hotels were booked, so I may wind up farther away. Not sure how long I will be there, either. Scott Taylor and Kim are coming, Garfield is, unless something changes. I'm not vending this year, but might throw out something if I help do the Archer Tables......The big thing for me is how long I can stay away from my job.....I might just come up....buy toys...stay overnight...and then back home. I won't know until early March what my final plans are.

We'll Be There

February 14 2008, 1:39 PM

Hi:

Kim and I will be vending there (and, barring some catastrophe, I should have my Crusader entered). I just booked at the Super 8 just one exit north of the museum (Super 8 Auburn - I-69 at exit 129) last week. If people haven't already tried there, give it a shot.

See some of you in April!

Cheers,

Scott Taylor

Count me in

February 13 2008, 7:59 PM

I'm going together with 3 or 4 guys from my modeling club. Unfortunately, I'm the only one bringing 48 scale armor .

Also, I know that Winston from Wings'n'Treads is coming (as a vendor and as a participant).

There must be more than three hotels nearby!

February 13 2008, 9:50 PM

Firstly, keep trying one of the three hotels listed, as someone is bound to cancel at the last minute. When I called they were full (La Quinta), but literally as I was talking to the pleasant lady in Reservations, a cancellation came in. This was great, as my hotel is literally the next exit down the road on Hwy 68 from the Victory Museum.

As for Winston from Wings'N'Treads being there as a vendor, this is excellent news. I haven't seen a posting from him in yonks, so wondered what had happened to him. Trust he will have some fun 48th stuff for me to drop $$$ on.........

Anyway, Bruce mentioned Garfield was talking "Track 48" shirts, this would be a golden opportunity to raise the flag, so to speak. Would make it easier to spot a 48th'er, so as not to raise offense by asking strangers, "so, do ya by chance build in 48th scale". In many an armor modeling home, them be fightin' words........

Cheers,
Andrew

Amen to that Chris! Looks like we won't make it, unfortunately. Anyone know of any shows in our area (Central/Eastern PA) coming up this year?
