One thing to consider that hasn't been discussed is that it is impossible to look at a tiny replica, only 1/48 the size of the prototype, the same way we look at that prototype. So, we will never see that model kit in the same way with the same proportions and perspective, and those things are what give us our visual impression of the beast. For me, if it looks good in person, and has the right "feel", and if it looks good in photos, it's "right." (Who else here remembers the late, great John Sandars, who built so many card and plastic British desert AFVs back in the 1960s and 70s. His stuff had the "look" of real combat desert armour in use, hardly ever seen today. But then, he had been there.....)

How about Bill Hearne?? His articles in early MilMods got me really interested in figures and Airfix conversions... And Stan Catchpool, and his semi-regular series on ANYTHING involved in Dioramas. He and Shep's Monogram sheets are what convinced me to give it a try.
What I enjoy most about THIS site, and the 'net in general, is the helpfulness of fellow modelers. Greg's asking for diorama detail suggestions brought, "Ahhhh, yeah! Another neat detail" for me to file away for my next diorama. You can't have too much helpful hints. And it IS a way of us Geezer Guard members passing on SOME of what is rattling around in our gourds....before squash rot sets in. I already have an advanced case of CRS....Can't Remember S..t....... And the future ain't lookin' better!!!!
Sooooo, IF I make it to AMPS....it will be the day after my 60th.....I hope Bruce will wipe off his jug of Elderberry.....and let me have a swig....properness be damned !!!
