Matilda sight vane

Is there any kind soul out the who has any idea of what the sight vane on the Matilda looked like? I can't for the life of me figure out how it's put together; if it's one piece or two, and how it's shaped. So if someone has any help for the spatially challenged I'd appreciate it.

Sighting vane

Hi Nik

From what I can see in the New Vanguard book there are 2 different types of sighting vane. a single fin for the standard 2pdr version, and the 3 piece in Chris's pics for the close support version. As it is only 1 reference and doesn't seem to make mention of the sighting vane specifically I can't be sure that the 3 piece isn't simply from a later mark tank.

I'm no expert, but I hope that helps.

The vane is the one shown here on Steve Zaloga's Matilda over on ML:



As you can see, it's not the most clear-cut and easiest geometrical shape they chose...
