Has anyone else tried using this wall tacky stuff? I got a package for .99 with 1/3 left over after 1 model. I think it helped to stretch it out in a pattern before applying it. The trouble is I had to push down kinda hard to get it to stick sometimes, so fragile models beware. Any other methods people use? I don't want all that panzer IV zimmerit to fall off.
That looks more like Play-Doh, which comes off pretty easily. If you use real Silly Putty beware of small P/E parts which the Silly Putty monster will devour. Chomp, chomp...
Thank you sirs, I guess if you wanted the third color, then you could leave the putty on and add more putty after that before spraying the third color. Here's the stuff I tried but it seems there's many different brands out there people are using. You find it in the pens and paper isle. Is it better just to get the real silly putty? Back to the experimentation lab.
I experimented with cheap 'play-doh' on my Jagdpanther. I had to press down firmly in places and was dumb enough to leave it on over night... and over night again... and on the third night thought 'oh, I must see how my Jpanther has turned out...' Needless to say the stuff had dried rock hard and while most of it pulled off ok some stuck hard! I ended up with damaged engine grills and a heck of a lot of tiny bits stuck. I stuck to my guns though and started from scratch, re-doing the base paint and laying out the pattern in 'play-doh' again. It worked well the 3rd time round, though I will likely use proper play-doh next time to see if it works any better (especially as it is almost the same price as the cheap stuff!)

Silly Putty

I don't know about any of the "adhesives" for masking....Silly Putty does work well, but just like masking tape, you need to remove it as soon as you can. And, as mentioned, it WILL seep into, around, through, and devour small bits...the P/e grills??....Ummmm, Yum-Yum...SillyPutty LIKES P/e,....ummm GOOD!!
I am trying my hand at welds, since I dont have the skills or gear to do putty welds I came up with the idea of using cotton instead. I dont know how it will turn out, and it has certainly been a bit fiddly to glue on. Its going to be a October 43 vehicle that has survived to mid/late 44 and been retro fitted with the pilze sockets (ie those 3 small dots u are supposed to trim off.)
